Aspirin use lowers risk of common GI cancers

Taking aspirin contributes to a reduced risk of several gastrointestinal (GI) malignancies, such as colorectal cancer (CRC), liver cancer, stomach cancer, and pancreatic cancer, as shown by the results of a 20-year study presented at ASCO GI 2025. However, no association is seen with most non-GI cancers.

Treatment with colchicine appears to lower the risk of stroke and major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) when used for longer duration, according to a study presented at ISC 2025. This beneficial effect, however, is not observed among patients with shorter follow-up duration.
