Parathyroidectomy does not lessen morbidity, mortality in mild hyperparathyroidism
Parathyroidectomy (PTX) seems ineffective at reducing morbidity or mortality in patients with mild primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) relative to observation without intervention, suggests a study. For at least a decade, observation has seen no evidence of adverse effects regarding mortality, fractures, cancer, cardiovascular (CV) and cerebrovascular (CBV) events, or renal morbidities.

29 Apr 2022Global incidence of adult-onset T1D higher than expected
An international study led by researchers from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) has shown a higher-than-expected incidence of adult-onset type 1 diabetes (T1D) worldwide, indicating a need for accurate diagnosis of these patients to facilitate appropriate treatment including early insulin therapy.

26 Apr 2022Obesity modifies link between menopausal age and heart failure risk
The risk of developing heart failure appears to increase in proportion with the level of obesity, especially among women whose menopause occurred at ≥55 years of age, a study has found.

25 Apr 2022Wearable sensors show potential for T1D sensing with informative parameters
Commercially available, wearable technology can improve its sensing ability of physiological signals in the management of type 1 diabetes (T1D) with additional, informative biomarkers, which can be observed noninvasively and continuously, suggests a recent study.
