Obesity appears to exert a detrimental causal effect on the risk of gestational diabetes, with lipid metabolism acting as a potential driver of the relationship, according to the results of a Mendelian randomization analysis.

Individuals with diabetes who have been diagnosed with retinal artery occlusion (RAO) are at greater risk of macrovascular complications for at least 5 years following the occlusion event relative to those with no RAO, a study has found.

Data presented at the Crohn’s & Colitis Congress (CCC) 2023 reflect the benefit of vedolizumab for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD; Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), be it alone or in a combination regimen. In one study however, extraintestinal manifestations were observed following vedolizumab use.
