In its push to continue to
innovate and provide timely, relevant, and high-quality products for its
consumers, and in line with the goal of helping healthcare partners to deliver
quality healthcare, GSK has recently launched its newest addition to their product
line-up – Sensodyne Repair and Protect Deep Repair.
In the recently held live online
event, attended by dental practitioners nationwide, GSK has brought together
esteemed speakers and renowned oral health care experts in the persons of Dr
Angelo Militante, president of the Philippine Dental Association and of the
Philippine College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons; as well as Dr Leo De
Castro, past president of Philippine Dental Association, the Philippine
Academy of Implant Dentistry, and the Makati Dental Society. They were joined
by Mr Jeff Go, the General Manager of GSK Consumer Healthcare
Philippines and Ms Enid Moraa, GSK’s Area Expert Marketing Manager (Southeast
Asia and Taiwan). The event was hosted by Ms Ayie Tinsay, a prominent
social media figure.
During their dynamic discussion, the
speakers initially explored the effect of the pandemic and how it has brought
about the shift to home oral care in lieu of actual dental visits. They also
tackled the role of dentists in home oral health care, the importance of
patient education, and the value of GSK’s continued partnership with dentists
and dental societies in addressing the needs of patients, especially those with
sensitive teeth.
Further adding value to the
discussion, Dr Charlie Parkinson, GSK’s Medical Affairs Director on Oral
Health delivered an expert lecture on the topic of dentine hypersensitivity and
the latest strategies in its management. In his lecture, Dr Parkinson highlighted
the psychosocial impact of dentine hypersensitivity and the existing oral care
products available to consumers, among which are occlusion agents. He also
explained in detail how Novamin, the occlusion agent present in Sensodyne
Repair and Protect Deep Repair, triggers a cascade of events upon contact with
saliva, which results to the formation of a hydroxyapatite-like layer over and
within exposed dentine tubules, effectively addressing the core of the problem
in patients with sensitive teeth, and thereby providing lasting protection and
relief. The panel of speakers also addressed queries from the attendees during
the open forum segment following the expert lecture.
In wrapping up the event, Mr Jeff
Go expressed Sensodyne and GSK’s commitment to their advocacy in ensuring accessibility
of effective and high-quality oral health care. Likewise, Dr Angelo Militante
and Dr Leo De Castro conveyed their commitment to providing quality oral health
care services and being champions of patient education.
Indeed, the COVID-19 pandemic has
proven to be an effective catalyst for change. And with the successful launch
of their new product line-up, GSK has once again proven themselves as a reliable
healthcare partner responsive to the community and patient’s needs. GSK and
Sensodyne continues to search for opportunities to innovate and empower
consumers and healthcare providers to adapt to the new realities brought about
by COVID-19.
