Chronic pelvic pain is a persistent, distressing, and severe pelvic pain of >6-month duration.
Diagnosis should be based on history and physical exam which may point toward a specific diagnosis for which special testing may be indicated.
Patients should be offered pain control with appropriate analgesia even if therapeutic maneuvers have not yet been initiated.
