Current Dengue Prevention Initiatives in Singapore

Dengue has been endemic in Singapore for over 50 years.¹ Singapore has been implementing vector control measures since the 1960s that have been effective at reducing dengue’s force of infection.² With the recent COVID-19 pandemic, however, Singapore has seen a steep rise in the number of dengue cases, with 2020 having the highest annual tally of over 35,000 cases.³ There continues to be a surge in dengue cases in the country, with a total of 23,382 reported cases during the first 31 weeks of 2022.⁴
