Medtronic snatches Healthcare Asia Medtech Awards in three countries

Medtronic, a prominent healthcare technology company, secured three prestigious awards at the recent Healthcare Asia Medtech Awards 2024, recognizing its initiatives that highlight health issues and the support medical technology can offer.

The company won awards in three categories: Marketing and Communications Initiative of the Year in Singapore, Hospital Partnership of the Year in Malaysia, and Digital Innovation of the Year in the Philippines. These accolades were given for its innovative technology and campaigns.

What contributed to the wins?
Medtronic Singapore launched the first 360-degree stroke awareness campaign in the Asia-Pacific region, which utilized a dynamic approach by incorporating lifestyle influencers, employees, doctors, and patients across both traditional and digital media platforms. The campaign stressed the importance of understanding both how to respond to a stroke and the treatments available, delivering this crucial information to young caregivers and adults alike.

This initiative supported a broader national stroke effort, educating the public about the F.A.S.T. protocol, prevention strategies, and treatment options. It successfully reached over 10.1 million people through traditional media channels and achieved 250,000 digital impressions, with the help of three influencers who collectively have 610,000 followers.

In Malaysia, Medtronic partnered with the Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), Southeast Asia’s largest cardiac center, to establish a center of excellence in cardiovascular health. This collaboration focused on capacity building by introducing new therapies and providing training on cardiac and vascular diseases and extended its impact through regional collaboration across Southeast Asian countries. The partnership also emphasized clinical research and public awareness to enhance patient-centric care in cardiovascular health.

In the Philippines, Medtronic introduced the MiniMed 780G System, a state-of-the-art insulin pump featuring an advanced hybrid closed-loop system. This system adjusts insulin delivery in real-time, mimicking the glucose levels of a person without diabetes, and integrates the Guardian 4 sensor, which monitors blood sugar every 5 minutes and communicates directly with the pump, thus eliminating the need for frequent and painful finger pricks.
