The role of apixaban in managing venous thromboembolism

Venous thromboembolism (VTE), comprising deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), carries a significant morbidity risk. Risk factors for VTE include surgery, hospitalization, pregnancy, contraceptive use, older age, overweight, and obesity.
