Triaging & Early Risk Identification in ACS – Risk scoring to the help?

21 Jun 2021

The risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) event rates remain high after a prior ischemic event, especially within the first year. There is a huge unmet need to optimise lipid management and reduce the risk of recurrent CVD events in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). In this continuing medical education video, Professor Yeo Khung Keong (Clinical Associate Professor and Senior Consultant Cardiologist, National Heart Centre, Singapore) moderated the discussions among 8 Senior Consultant Cardiologist Expert Panellists to:

  1. Discover variations in triaging of ACS patients between institutions in Singapore
  2. Share and exchange CV risk scoring protocols/best practices employed for decision-making on early/delayed revascularization strategy
  3. Discuss the value of establishing baseline lipid levels as part of these risk stratification approaches

The panel discussion is supported with two key presentations on “Realizing ACS outcomes from clinical trials in the real-world settings” by Professor Tan Huay Cheem (Professor of Medicine & Senior Consultant Cardiologist, National University Hospital, Singapore) and “The NHCS experience in early assessment (pre-catheter lab) of the ACS patient” by A/Professor Jonathan Yap Jiunn Liang (Clinical Associate Professor & Consultant Cardiologist, National Heart Centre, Singapore).
