Fibromyalgia is a syndrome of chronic diffuse pain that affect muscles, soft tissues (eg tendons, ligaments) and other somatic symptoms.
Diagnosis is based primarily on history of widespread pain, defined as axial, bilateral, upper and lower body pain, for at least 3 consecutive months.
Mild fibromyalgia can be managed in primary care while those who were not responsive to initial treatment or have significant comorbidities should be referred to a rheumatologist.
For further information regarding the management of Fibromyalgia, please refer to Disease Algorithm for the Treatment Guideline.
