Hodgkin's lymphoma, also known as Hodgkin’s disease, Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) or Hodgkin disease, is an uncommon carcinoma that involves lymph nodes and the lymphatic system.
Signs and symptoms of Hodgkin's lymphoma include painless peripheral adenopathies (commonly within the cervical or supraclavicular areas), chest pain or pain within the mediastinum, pain at a nodal site after drinking alcohol, chronic pruritus, systemic B symptoms (unexplained fever[>38oC/100.4oF], drenching night sweats, weight loss [>10% of baseline] within 6 months of diagnosis), alcohol intolerance, pruritus, and fatigue.
Fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG)-positron emission tomography/CT (FDG-PET/CT) scan is the gold standard for clinical staging of Hodgkin's lymphoma, both during initial diagnosis and treatment evaluation.
Management is based on the patient's age, gender, family and medical history, histological classification, anatomical stage and prognosis of the disease.
