Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is considered as a hepatic manifestation of metabolic syndrome (obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, insulin resistance, dyslipidemia and hypertension).
Patient with MASLD presents with elevated serum aminotransferase level detected during health screening or as part of the investigation for another illness.
Laboratory tests are used to establish the diagnosis of MASLD, assess disease severity, and monitor disease progression and response to treatment.
The essential principle of MASLD therapy is to treat the underlying cause.
For further information regarding the management of Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease, please refer to Disease Algorithm for the Treatment Guideline.
